Green Street Green Primary School Fete 30 June
Following our successful appearance at St Christopher's Food Festival, the Village Society pitched up at the Green Street Green Primary School Fete.  Great fun was had with naming a cuddly giraffe, locating the missing monkey, somewhere in Green Street Green, and guessing the number of sweets in the jar, as well as having Mystic Mag telling fortunes.
£40 was raised in aid of Green Street Green Association (charity), for the benefit of the community.

Farewell to another longtime resident

New noticeboard NOW installed and hall flooring replaced at the Greenwood Centre
The old frame has been painted - matching the front door!  A backing board has been attached to make it much neater.  The new noticeboard has now been installed.  It has an aluminium frame and a locking front transparent panel, so no more fly posting and spurious irrelevant posters.  And inside the new hall flooring is lighter and smarter than ever.
Details of regular activities at the hall are on the noticeboard and here.

Old Hill Mausoleum - travel plan submitted....(click on link and read it)
In the conditions when this application was approved was the following:
“No development shall take place until a Travel Plan has been submitted to and approved in writing by the local planning authority. This shall include measures to reduce reliance on use of the private car including the provision of a visitor mini bus service and a programme for implementation. Thereafter the permitted use shall be carried out in accordance with the approved Travel Plan.”

The application number is 15/00981/CONDIT - unfortunately the decision deadline date was 6 January but the following objection has submitted:
"Whatever travel plan is encouraged, people cannot be forced not to use their cars.  Inevitably families intending to visit interred relatives are most likely to travel together, making car journeys much more economic.
The issues of traffic and fly tipping on Old Hill will be exacerbated by this increase in vehicular movements.  Weekends are likely to be the most popular time for these visitors, when the number of walkers in High Elms is at its peak, with cars parking opposite the entrance to Old Hill Farm.  No travel plan can possibly be acceptable to prevent a worsening traffic situation, with increasing use of Old Hill as a cut through to Shire Lane."  Bromley does not list the number of objections received and the decision is still awaited......
More information about Old Hill Farm and these proposals can be found here.

Planning Enforcement confirmed that they have visited the site and been assured that no further vehicle sales are now taking place.  The lease on the shop expires in March and will allegedly not be renewed.   WATCH THIS SPACE!

Broken wall opposite Waitrose
Committee members of the Society intervened to resolve the situation, which has been going on for well over a year, and arranged for estimates to submit to the insurance company.  The owner of the wall (who lives in the property) has been paid by the insurance company and finally agreed to have the wall repaired in August.
Why is it still unrepaired?  When will the owner get this done or has he taken the money with no intention to repair his wall?

April 2015 - Broken wall opposite Waitrose: The driver's  insurance  company has spoken with the owner of the wall (no.10 Winnipeg Drive) and agreed to arrange for the wall to be rebuilt.  However, the owner of No.10 may be disputing ownership, despite the Land Registry indicating the wall is part of their property.  It is perplexing since the insurance company will pay.
